But every year when the spring rains arrive, the desert erupts into an explosion of vibrant color as desert wildflowers blossom with life. It’s this celebration of color that inspired the designers at Rolls-Royce Motor Cars and Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Rancho Mirage to create a one-of-a-kind work of art with the ‘Rolls-Royce Dawn Palm Springs Collection.’ This one-of-one collection car is the child of creative collaboration among the team in Rancho Mirage and exquisite execution by the company’s Bespoke Design Studio in Goodwood, England. The initial idea of the Palm Springs Collection came as the team from Rancho Mirage met with local architectural and interior designers. Palm Springs has always been a winter haven and year-round home to a cadre of A-list celebrities and titans of industry with discerning taste for design and quality. They are a group that knows what they like. To celebrate this heritage, together they conceived this unique ‘one-of-one’ collection car. Working for the past year with the color, finish and material designers in the Bespoke Design Studios at the Home of Rolls-Royce in Goodwood, they created ‘Dawn Palm Springs Collection.’ ‘Dawn – Palm Springs Collection’ The inspiration for the Arctic White exterior finish is the vastness of the desert. The sleek monochrome exterior evokes the image of a blank canvass, setting the stage for the tasteful highlight of color within. The interior Bespoke coloring includes Artic White with splashes of Turchese, Mandarin giving the sense of blossoming wildflowers set against the sands of the desert. The Dawn includes classic Bespoke features that Rolls-Royce is world renowned. Such as the a two-tone hand-sewn steering wheel in Artic White and Turchese and interior hand stitching and piping highlights in Mandarin. The homes of Palm Springs have long featured cutting-edge design and furniture. From the art deco designs to neo-modern, the use of wood has been a visual treat for the Palm Springs community. ‘The Dawn Palm Springs Collection’ features full Canadel Panelling of an open pore Santos Palisander veneer, similar to what one would see on the finest designer interior furnishings and décor finishes. England’s The Daily Telegraph has named the Rolls-Royce Dawn the Luxury Car of the Year. Annually, the news outlet holds the Telegraph Cars Awards, in which a panel of judges ranks automobiles based on various road tests and design. This month Rolls-Royce introduced the Phantom Zenith Collection. This bespoke collection is a series of 50 custom-made cars and that are some of the last Phantom Coupes and Phantom Drophead Coupes to ever be built. In a press release Rolls-Royce Motor Cars CEO Torsten Müller-Ötvös said, "As we begin to write a bold new chapter in Rolls-Royce history, I am delighted to present a Bespoke Collection that so elegantly celebrates two of the world’s rarest and most celebrated luxury goods; Phantom Drophead Coupé and Phantom Coupé." As unique as these last Phantom Coupes are, something that is particularly intriguing is the tailgating gear inside. These vehicles were built for tailgating in style. The Zenith Collection Phantoms are equipped with luxury amenities like a built-in Champagne cooler with enough room to chill two bottles and store eight crystal flutes. A Rolls-Royce picnic hamper is also an option in these rare Phantoms. The picnic hamper has enough storage for everything one may need for a meal on the go. This tailgate even comes with seating.
